These are
the most popular and the most used of all types of check valves.
They can be installed either vertically or horizontally. They
allow the flow of fluids in only one direction and prevent them
from flowing back.
1. INSTALLATION:
Before installing check valves the following indications must be taken into consideration:
1.1. End
connections and pipes should be thoroughly clean and free of
slags, rust, dust, etc.
1.2. Proper support of valve and/or pipeline should be provided to
eliminate strain and fatigue of end connections.
1.3. The valve must be Installed with the flow arrow pointing to the
direction of the flow.
1.4. Follow the indications on the valve identification plate concerning
pressure, temperature, and material limits.
1.5. If the valve is going to be installed in horizontal position, the
inlet and outlet must be at the same level for proper clapper action.
1.6. If the valve is going to be installed vertically, the flow and the
flow arrow must be pointed upwards.
1.7. Make always sure that the disc moves freely.
NOTE:
MCT check valves cannot be installed vertically when the flow is downwards.
2. MAINTENANCE:
Swing check valves require minimun maintenance due to simplicity of design and to the
facility to replace its parts except for the seat ring which can be repaired by face
grinding.
For proper maintenance services the following indications must
be followed:
2.1 REVISION:
2.1.1. Disassemble the valve following the instructions in point 2.2.
2.1.2. Check all metallic pieces and make sure
they have no damage such as foreign material, nicks and/or wear.
2.1.3. Replace the body-cap gasket (85) if it is damaged.
NOTE:
The material of the new gasket will depend on the service conditions of the valve. For
further information please consult us.
2.2. DISASSEMBLY:
2.2.1. Remove the valve from the line (if necessary).
2.2.2. Remove the cap (10) by unscrewing the stud (111) nuts (106).
2.2.3. Unscrew the hinge pin(38) plug (29A).
2.2.4. Remove the hinge pin (38) holding in
place the group of pieces that includes disc (21) and the hinge
(11).
2.2.5. Now remove the group of pieces that
includes the disc (11) and the hinge (21).
2.2.6. Remove the split pin (140) from the clapper nut (117) and then
remove the nut.
2.2.7. Remove the washer (102) and separate the clapper (11) from the
hinge (21).
2.2.8. To remove the seat ring (7) insert through the flange opening of
the valve the appropriate tool to unscrew it; once it is loose remove it through the upper
opening of the body (1 ).
2.3. REASSEMBLY:
"' To reassemble follow the disassembling instructions in reverse order.
NOTA:
For major maintenance service please consult us.
3.The instructions
below should be followed to ensure that the valves are at their
best conditions at the moment of installation:
3.1. Store the valve in horizontal position.
If it has to be stored in vertical position, the disc should
be in closed position.
3.2. Stuff body cavity with paper to prevent
the clapper from moving.
3.3. If valve(s) is(are) going to be stored for a long period of time,
the following instructions should be followed every three months approximately:
3.3.1. Clean up bore area from dirt and foreign particles.
3.3.2. Lubricate seats area to protect them from rust, wear, dirt, and
other damages.
3.3.3. Replace the protective covers on flanges if damaged.
WARNING:
Never disassemble valves under warranty without consulting the
manufacturer first, since doing it without the proper authorization
can void the warranty. |
