This valve made of alloys
and carbon steel, for classes API 150, 300, 600, 900, 1500,
2500 and in nominal diameters of 2", 3", 4",
6", 8", 10", 12", 16" and 20 y 26",
is of the oscillating clapper type. The area of use is for multiple
purposes, from normal working conditions to severe erosion conditions,
abrasion and high temperatures. It can be used in a horizontal
or vertical position (with an upward flow). It is manufactured
flanged and with welding ends according to API 6D specification.
CAP
The cap is designed to be used under the same pressure and temperature as the
body of the valve. In the API series 150 and 300 the upper flange has a machined section
to place the gasket. For the series API 600 and on, both the cap and the upper flange have
machined ridges for the RTJ joint that are used according to ANSI B16.20 specification.
HINGE
The hinge is normally manufactured from the same material as the body or the same
material specified for the trim. Designed to resist the violent slams of the clapper
generated when the fluid flows back.
BODY
The body is robust and designed with smooth lines to allow a better stress
distribution. This allows an obstruction-free flow with minimum turbulence. The seat ring
housing is machined for a very smooth finish, wich guarantees a metal seal in the
body-ring area. The threading depth depends on the depth required to secure the ring in
place. The bodies are normally manufactured in ASTM A-216 Grade WCB cast carbon steel, but
can also be manufactured in stainless steel and other alloys upon customer's request.
HINGE PIN
Generally made of stainless steel or the same material
used for trim. Its primary function is to maintain the clapper-hinge
set in the correct position inside the valve, allowing free
rotation
CLAPPER
The clapper is normally manufactured from the same material used for trim. It can
also be manufactured in the same material used for the body, but welded with the same trim
material, on the seat surface. The hinge's mounting bolt is part of the clapper to
guarantee a hermetic seal.
SEAT RING
They have a thick wall as well as a long threaded section to secure the ring to
the body of the valve. Once set in place, it is grinded to guarantee a total seal with the
clapper and eliminate the possibility of any deformation. Manufactured from the same
material specified for the trim or the same material used for the body and welded with the
same trim material in the sealing area.
